QBM Griffith MBA Scholarship 2019: Winners to become trailblazers

Johanna Marsh has already distinguished herself as a leader in her industry.

For the past year, she has been the Infrastructure Association of Queensland’s youngest board member.

Now Marsh, 27, can add another accolade to her already impressive resume. She has topped a competitive field to win this year’s QBM Griffith MBA Responsible Leadership Scholarship, valued at more than $54,000.

“I believe that with the Griffith MBA I can influence positive, sustainable change in a period of unprecedented investment in Australian infrastructure,” says Marsh, a senior associate at the Infrastructure Advisory Group.

She believes the Griffith MBA and in particular the public policy major it offers, will give her the skills and knowledge to take the next step in her career.

“But I don’t want an MBA just to have an MBA under my belt,” she says. “It’s not about climbing a career ladder, it’s about trying to make a difference outside of the organisation where I work.”

The competition’s runner-up Mark Ryan, 38, a senior manager, strategy and engagement at the Mater Group, has picked up the half scholarship, worth more than $27,000.

“I am still on a learning journey,” says Ryan, a former sports journalist and semi-professional cricketer who spent a couple years playing for clubs in England.
